It’s Take Your Pet To Work Week!

If you work at a pet-friendly office like we do, every week is “take your pet to work week.” For those of you who don’t, we’ve got you covered! This year’s Take Your Pet To Work Week is happening from June 22-26 and we have the tools you need to convince your boss to let your company participate!

Thousands of employees are expected to bring their pets to the office this year thanks to Pet Sitters International, who created the event to celebrate the great companions they make, encourage pet adoptions and boost employee moral.

According to the American Pet Products Association (APPA)’s National Pet Owners Survey, only 8% of all U.S. pet owners say their workplace allows pets. With the tools provided by Pet Sitters International in the Action Pack, you can help your office change that statistic, even if it’s just for the week.

If your boss seems apprehensive about the idea of pets at work, win them over by explaining that pet-presence may serve as a low-cost, wellness intervention and may enhance organizational satisfaction and perceptions of support, according to one 2012 Virginia Commonwealth University study. The study specifically showed employees who bring their dogs to work produced lower levels of the stress-causing hormone cortisol and that dogs at work help increase employee satisfaction and interaction between coworkers. That’s reason enough for us!
